El Cachivachero del Monroy

Oscar Monroy

AI Engineer and full stack developer in Mexico City. I love experimenting with AI and I use the frontend to express creativity. I used to be in the army; today I build agents, automations and AI products.

This is express mode: my whole portfolio on one page.

Experiment bench

Conecta Empleo

Award winner · HackathonIA 2026 · UTEL + Hostinger

An employability platform with AI agents: it interviews candidates, assesses their skills and matches them with jobs.

What I did
I designed the technical and AI architecture, built the assessment engine (soft and hard skills) and the matching, and developed the MVP with an agentic workflow.
Built with
  • Python
  • TypeScript
  • Next.js
  • LLMs
  • AI agents

Femur fracture detection

Computer vision

Diagnosis support: it detects proximal femur fractures in X-rays with YOLO and reports the finding, confidence and side.

What I did
I trained the detector and built the whole system: API, roles (admin, doctor, radiologist, technician) and an audit log. It runs 100% locally, no cloud or telemetry, to protect medical data.
Built with
  • Python 3.12
  • FastAPI
  • YOLO
  • pytest

Tésera

Real business

I automated a real, profitable business end to end with AI.

What I did
Lead handling, quoting, CRM, operations, quality control and reporting. It started as a hobby and keeps growing every year. I keep tuning the pieces.

Leads for a tattoo studio

Automation

A workflow that takes care of the studio’s clients without anyone glued to the phone.

What I did
A complete N8N flow: automatic replies to clients, lead follow-up and the studio’s internal management, with LLMs built in.
Built with
  • N8N
  • LLMs

I sold my first freelance project in 2023 and, year after year, projects have kept coming since then. These are just a few. To keep the experience light, and out of confidentiality with several clients, I can't show them all. If you're curious about something specific, write to me and I'll share what I can.

Station 03 · Frontend

Drafting table

The frontend is my favorite way to bring creativity into engineering.

This warehouse

My 3D portfolio: three.js, custom shaders for the liquid and glass, a cartoon style with ink outlines, and everything modeled in code.

Station 04 · What's next

Idea board

A Spanish-language LLM benchmark

Compare models on real Spanish-language tasks by quality, cost and latency, with a router that picks the best one for each task.

An MCP server

Expose useful data and actions as tools for AI agents.

Voice oral-exam simulator

A voice agent that asks, follows up and grades with a rubric. It will live inside Próximo Grado.

A shelf of creative experiments

Small AI demos in the browser: camera, shaders and weird weekend stuff.

Station 05 · In progress

Construction zone

When they are done, they move up to the experiment bench.

Próximo Grado

In progress

A study app for Army officers preparing for promotion exams.

What I did
AI spaced repetition that decides what to review and when, and organizes the whole study plan.

AI second brain

In progress

An Obsidian-style notes app, but with a built-in AI assistant brain.

What I did
The idea is to take what Obsidian started further: connected notes you can query and work on with AI.
